Camp Korey Camper Village
Camp Korey is a non-profit organization “dedicated to transforming the lives of children with serious and life-altering medical conditions through free-of-charge camp experiences” and is part of the larger Paul Newman ‘Serious Fun’ Network. The camp is located at the historic 818-acre Carnation Farm in Washington and is comprised of century-old barns and farmland that was once home to the famous Carnation dairy. The current day facilities and surrounding landscape provide children with a safe and medically sound environment that allows them to be kids again.

The camper village project provides cabins and facilities for 120 campers plus councilors and nursing staff. All facilities are designed for accessibility and special medical needs. JKLA is providing site planning and design services, permit assistance, construction documents and construction support for the camper village project. The site design addresses the challenging program requirements and minimizes impact to the complex project site. The camper village includes a cantilevered deck with dramatic views of the spectacular agricultural valley, a camp fire and gathering space for approximately 200 people with a view overlook, twelve universally accessible cabins housing 10 campers plus councilors and nursing staff, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, cart, maintenance and fire access, a new camp store with laundry facilities, and as much open space for camp chats and outdoor gathering and activities as possible.
